"Soup Joumou"
Haitian Pumpkin Soup

Do you have a special dish that you literally eat only once a year? Well, we Haitians do! Soup Joumou is a very traditional Haitian soup made out of squash to commemorate the independance of Haiti. That day is set on January 1st and so in addition to celebrating the New Year, we also celebrate the Haitian revolution. I won't go into too much detail on the history as that can easily be Googled, but here, we will go straight into the recipe! This soup was so good I just might make it more throughout the year.

This is my first official recipe video on Suzon Spice and with that being said, I hope to be able to produce more videos in the future. Because Soup Joumou is extremely versatile (like nearly all Haitian dishes) I will not go into detail of the amounts used. However, I will list below all the ingredients I used down below. I truly apologize in advance for the sound quality of this video as I'm still learning the ropes of this video thing. With time, it will get better, I promise!
