Sautéed Green BeansGreen beans are one of my favorite vegetables. I cook it quite frequently and in a lot of different ways. Then I realized I only had ONE green bean recipe on my website and figured I should add more! By the way, if you haven't already tried the Green Beans with Bacon recipe, you definitely need to check it out and it can be found here.
I love green beans so much that I decided to grow them in my garden this year and the harvest has been plentiful. What's really exciting is that I grew both green and purple beans and thought it was a perfect opportunity to use them for this recipe. |
This recipe is very easy to make with just a few simple ingredients and yet bursting with flavor. You can cook them until your desired tenderness. I like mines on the slightly crispy side. The sweetness of the red bell peppers add a delightful taste. As the main seasoning component, Goya Sazonador Total becomes the star of the show as it was in my Okra Medley Crisp. I really hope you give this one a try!
Ingredients:
Directions:
1. Trim off the ends of the green beans then rinse them thoroughly.
2. Crush and mince 2 - 3 cloves of garlic and set aside.
3. Bring a pot of water to a roaring boil then add the green beans. Boil the beans for roughly 3 minutes. We don't want to fully cook the beans as they will be sauteed afterwards. Then drain. You want them to remain bright green. The cool thing about the purple beans is that they turn green when cooked.
4. Return the pan to medium heat. Be sure the pan is dry before adding 3 tbps. of olive oil and the minced garlic. Saute the garlic for about 2 - 3 minutes, taking care for it not to burn.
5. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Mix to combine it with the garlic and oil. At this point you want to increase the heat to medium high.
6. Add in 1.5 tsps. of the Goya Sazonador Total along with 2 tbsps. of soy sauce. Mix thoroughly and cover pot with lid and allow it to steam/saute until desire tenderness, mixing occassionally. Add sea salt to taste if desired but the soy sauce and Goya seasoning should be enough.
*If you opt to omit soy sauce, substitute it for 2 tbsps. of water in it's place and add sea salt to taste. Don't forget the Goya Sazonador Total!

The green beans are ready to be served alone or as a side dish to accompany any meal of your choice. Since I like things a little on the spicy side, I like to sprinkle a little bit of crushed red peppers on top. Not only is this a simple dish, but it's healthy and delicious!
